Frequently Asked Questions

General

IRON Sign is a hand engraving studio that focuses on one of a kind wall decor, metal art and signage that is unique and like nothing you have seen before.

All my engravings are done by hand. I use a Dremel rotary tool on all of my engravings.

The metal plates are primed white and then painted the colour I want them to be. I normally paint them black because it has a nice contrast with that metal shine once it is engraved.

Once the engravings are finished I give them a double high gloss clear coat finish.

No, all my engravings are done by hand with a Dremel rotary tool.

I would like to think that I can pretty much engrave most ideas and concepts. Contact me and lets see what I can do for you?

No, unfortunately that is one thing I don’t engrave is lettering and messages on jewellery

Yes, I can engrave a portrait picture. As long as the picture is good quality I can use it as a reference. That also includes animal portraits.

At the moment I have 2 sizes available:

  • 300mm x 130mm
  • 300mm x 400mm

I am looking at getting more options available in the future.

Yes, most of my engravings are done in black purely because it has a nice contrast with that metal shine. The metal plates can be painted a colour of your choice.

Once all my engravings are finished they are treated with a double high gloss finish.

Each engraving is different and all depends on the design. Some engravings take 4-5 hours to complete and some engravings I have spent over 30 hours on so it really does depend.
